Deceiving from the outside: a character-filled interior and a terrace overlooking the South Downs.
I've walked past this place SO many times and had absolutely no idea what was hiding inside.
Step through the doors and you'll find a beautiful, character-filled interior that just seems to go on and on, plus a stunning terrace overlooking the South Downs. It manages to feel elegant but still super family friendly.
What we ate
We visited for Sunday lunch. I started with the French onion soup, which was SO good, followed by the pork roast, exactly what you want from a Sunday roast. The kids' menu deserves a mention too, done to a really high standard rather than an afterthought. We shared the sticky toffee pudding.
The verdict
Beautiful interiors, incredible South Downs views, a family-friendly atmosphere and fantastic food. Somewhere I'll be returning to soon.
